The whole Shared Leadership Program was an awesome experience for me. The first year I got to hear and see what goes on around campus, met some really great people from around campus, and see how my piece of the puzzle fits into the bigger puzzle of the whole university. I liked the second year best because I was able to put into practice everything we talked and learned during about the first year. The second year is really when “shared leadership” comes into play because you learn to use your strengths along with the others in your group to put on a great program for the 1st year Shared Leadership participants.

In over three years at Boise State University, I had learned a lot but was interested in experiencing and learning more aspects about the University. A former member of Shared Leadership encouraged me to apply and recommended me for the program.
In the various sessions of Shared Leadership, I met many people from the University that I would never have met on my daily job. I heard many fantastic speakers, such as Coach Dan Hawkins and Sam Byrd who covered interesting subjects. Since we met twice a month I became acquainted with the other Shared Leadership members, which has proved to be beneficial to my job in knowing whom to contact for different situations.
As part of the committee to plan the next Shared Leadership, we have decided to enrich the Shared Leadership program by helping the new members with ways to become better leaders. This would include a different topic each month related to improving leadership skills. I truly would love to do this again especially with the leadership topics that are now being included in the program.

Shared Leadership helped me to put my work experience at the University in a different context. By participating in the monthly meetings, I broadened my understanding of the many functions performed by the University as well increased my awareness of the roles and responsibilities performed by the various leadership of the University. Shared Leadership is a wonderful experience. It gives you a perspective of different departments across campus as well as allowing you to build your knowledge of the Boise State environment. My time spent in Shared Leadership was wonderful. It made me feel a part of the Campus Community, not just my College. The program let me understand what goes on in other areas that are not in my expertise. It also took me all over campus. It let me meet new people. The second year let me prepare one of the programs.
